I did some home schooling work while I was at the Fryeburg Fair. I met Jeanne Eastman of Chester Eastman Homestead Living History Farm. She was making butter, soap and candles -- essentials of early American life! I also met a woman who made rugs from leftover cloth. I think people recycled more in the old days than we do now. Plus they weren't using plastic for anything. Everything they used broke down into earth again. I worry about using how we use oil to make plastic and what is going to happen to all this plastic we throw away!
