On our first full day in London, we traipsed around the City of London which we were surprised to learn used to be only a walled square mile back in Roman times when London was known as Londinium. Now the term London covers the many square miles and various boroughs of Greater London.
We visited Guildhall Museum, Museum of London, Worshipful Company of Barbers, London Wall and St. Giles Church which was where Oliver Cromwell married. The Museum of London gives a great overview of the history of the City of London.
In the Guildhall basement is an archeological excavation of the only Roman Amphitheatre in England.
