Ralph Waldo Crain (1877-1949)

Webmaster’s Note: Ralph Crain did so much for Crain Family history...right down to the very many photos he took that appear on these pages.  His web page here needs work to do him justice!  It will be done!

Ralph Crain in the Philippines while serving during the Spanish American War.  Soon after, Ralph worked for the Remington Typewriter Company.

"A LITTLE WHILE"

Yet for a little way

They walk with us;

Bowed forms now worn and gray,

Once young and valorous.

On each Memorial Day,

Thinner blue lines

Lead us the nobler way

To Patriot shrines.

Drum's roll and fife's clear notes

Their memories thrill.

Old Glory o'er them floats,

Brave soldiers still!

Cheer on their faltering way,

Our "Boys in Blue."

Would they might longer stay,

Who peril know.

Praise, then, with kindly smile,

Their battles won,

For in a little while,

Life's day is done.
